Today i read an article that CONSISTS that had four arms and four legs. they were going to get her ready to do surgery but kept thinking about a specific STRATEGY this is a high rish for the girl and her life. they had to EXAMINE and make sure that they had a plan to do for the surgery when it was time. This wasnt a time and place to be the type that is going to just guess or make an ESTIMATE about how they were going to help the little girl. and not just one way, they also needed an ALTERNATIVE for this kind of case. The little girls life was vrey PRECIOUS to everyone in there, and especially her mom.

I think that this surgery is sad because the girl didnt do anything to be born like that and for her to have to go through surgery like that just upsets me. i dont feel she should go through this but it is a life or death i think and i think she should do it if its going to help her throughout her life. She is a nice little girl and is a hero in her town but now she is going to have to make a big step in her life for her future. and whatever doesnt kill her, will make her stronger...

The grim not so POSITIVE record came despite lower death rates in recent months, which were not enough to offset death tolls that topped 100 during three months in the spring.
The five were killed in two separate roadside bombings, according to Rear Adm. Gregory Smith, a military official who briefed reporters in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Tuesday.
Four of the soldiers were killed when a bomb exploded near their vehicle in northern Iraq's Tameem province; the other died in combat in Anbar province.
According to a CNN count of Pentagon VERIFYS , 854 U.S. service members have died so far in 2007. The next highest death toll was in 2004, when 849 were killed.
In 1994, he finally got his dream. Little did he know that the cars EFFECT he was about to design -- the Prius -- would revolutionize the global auto industry.
Uchiyamada, 61, now executive vice president, was CONSUMING the first mass production gas-electric hybrid, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in December.
With other engineers, he trudged away at 16-hour work days, patiently testing hundreds of engines. Fistfights broke out over what option to take to overcome engineering obstacles.
The Prius was a big step forward to IDENTIFY the future of green cars. Up next for Toyota and its rivals: Far more powerful batteries for next-generation hybrids, plug-in electric cars and eventually zero-emission fuel-cell vehicles powered by hydrogen, which combines with oxygen in the air to form water.
I feel bad for the soldiers in iraq. I hope they make it home. There families I feel worse for. I think toyota is doing a good job. The need to make these more efficiant cars like they have been. Hybrids are good for the air.

Girl with 8 limbs faces surgery.

In Bangalore, India; a 2 year old is being operated. She was born with 4 arms and 4 legs. When she was in her mothers womb, she was intentionally supposed to be born as a twin. Apparently the eggs weren't capable of seperating all the way, which left one body with extra limbs and other organs. The 2 year old is named after the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. Her father says that everyone in their village considers her a goddess. After many surgeons EXAMiNED her body and said that they will be capable of removing extra limbs. It also says that since the family is not able to pay off the medical bills, that the hospital foundation will pay for it. Also, a team of 30 doctors will participate in the surgery.

I think that its amazing how the city of Bangalore is so supportive of this little girl. They're going out of their way to help this girl get her surgery. I also like how no one thinks of her as a different person. They even worship her as a goddess. I think that more people should be more respective with people like that in our country.

I was reading a very interesting article today. The TEXT was FOCUSED on food, on food that we usually believe is bad for our health. The foods that were EMPHASIZED were peanut butter, eggs, coffee, avocado and mushrooms. People may have a misconception of all those foods and they might think that most don’t have nutritional value and they are just plain harmful. Take coffee as an example, when researchers EXAMINED the effects of caffeine in humans, they ESTIMATED that people who drank 4-6 cups of coffee a day were less likely to have type 2 diabetes compared to those who drank 2 or less. Scientists now are realizing that these types of foods are high in nutrients and very good at preventing diseases. Avocados for example can actually fight cancer and mushrooms can reduce tumor size. Eggs may seem really bad for someone’s cholesterol but in reality they are not that bad and they are really good for the brain

- CNN News
- The articles that I read today were pretty interesting. One was about how this year is the deadliest year for Iraqi troops. There were five deaths on Monday. They took place at two separate roadside bombings. The PREVIOUS highest death toll was 849 in 2004. they ANALYZED that civilian death tolls have also dropped in recent months. Another article CONSISTED of an immigration chief that held a costume party. There were a few costumes that were ILLUSTRATED as offensive. The most interesting article was about a 2 year old girl that has 4 arms and 4 legs. Her 8 limbs DERIVED from a parasitic twin.
- I think that these three were pretty interesting. I think I prefer reading CNN instead of the newspaper. The one that I liked the most was the girl with the 8 limbs.
- one interesting thing that I learned was that at the costume party one was wearing dreadlocks in prison outfit and dark make up.

1.The first article I read about this morning was about a 2 year old girl with 8 limbs. The little girl with 8 limbs identified as Lakshmi, lives in Bangalore, India with her parents who consent for the surgery to happen. The girl is joined to a parasitic twin that stopped developing in the mothers womb. She has two spines tat are merged, she has four kidneys, entangled nerves, two stomach cavities and two chest cavities. She cannot stand up or walk.
Reflection
I think this is a significant story. I never thought it would actually be possible for someone to be born that way. Hopefully the little girls surgery comes out good.

2.The second article I read about today was about how this year of 2007 its now the deadliest year for U.S. troops in Iraq. On Monday there was 5 U.S. soldiers killed. Four of those five soldiers died when a strategy bomb exploded near their vehicle in northern Iraq’s Tameem province. The fifth soldier that died was killed in combat in Anbar province.
Reflection
I think that this war is not worth any lives of innocent people. I the year of 2004 there was 849 killings in Iraq and now this year which hasn’t even ended there’s been 854 so far. I just hope this war ends soon.

3.The third article I read about this morning was about an immigration chief who apologized for offensive costumes at her party. The department of homeland Security will investigate a Halloween costume party that was made by a to immigration official where a man dressed in a striped prison outfit. The man had dreadlocks and he darkened his skin with make-up. Most of the people at the part thought that the costume was offensive. They thought it should have been more appropriate.
Reflection
I think that this is insane. I don’t think that people should feel offended by the costume of the man who dressed up as a prisoner. I think this is crazy about how there going to investigate this party since it was a costume party people are suppose to dress up as whatever they feel free to dress up like.

In the first article that was presented to me I learned about misconception about certain foods. The articles beginning FOCUS was listed in a few paragraphs pointing out some bad AFFECTS and good qualities in a broad TEXT then the article moved on to a single product pointing out its misconception then why is it good for us. First on the list was peanut butter its misconception is that it is only good to eat it occasionally because of it is high in calories and fats but the truth about it is it Can lower the risk of getting heart disease. Second was eggs the misconception about them was that because they have high dietary cholesterol they do not belong in a heart-healthy diet the truth is that it improves brain function eggs as well as vision. The third was Coffee its misconception is that it is only for a caffeine buzz the truth is that it improves brain function and alertness as well as prevent people from getting type 2 diabetes. Avocado the fourth with its misconception of being only high in fat but its got more than fat to its it can help prevent cancer and help the absorption of antioxidants. The fifth was mushrooms which are not only good for dieting but have increase immune function.
All this article was geared toward was showing the positive side to a once believed negative food. This article has shown me that in the ever changing world of science it is bad to think narrow mindedly about any subject.
Since science is always growing misconceptions must often occur.
In the Second article that I read I learned about higher death tolls that are plaguing Iraq. In the Year of 2003 when the war began the death toll was 486 now it has ballooned to 3,859 no POSITIVES can be seen in this article nor did it speak of STRATEGIES that could possibly end the war it was just a death toll and a very bad one to look at this wars numbers just increase exponentially with no good results in sight this is a sad, sad situation to ponder.

2007 now the deadliest year for U.S. troops in Iraq
Today I am reading about 2007 now deadliest year for U.S. troops in Iraq. The U.S soldiers were killed in Iraq on Monday making 2007 the deadliest for the American military in the Iraq war. They were say that the most killing was 2004 there was 849 kills. This year was 854 kills.
Will I don’t like it cause a lot of people are getting killed.
Will I no that a lots of moms and dads are mad cause there's kids are died.

Girl with limbs faces surgery
Today I read about girl with limbs faces surgery. Will doctors began operating Tuesday on a 2 year old girl born with four arms and legs in an extensive surgery that they hope will leave. Her parents kept her in hiding after a circus apparently tried to buy the girl they said. They said that its going to take many many hours on a con basis to operate on the baby so these issue definitely make it complex.
Will I hope that they make it.
Will I think that its mast up that they have do it.

Today in cnn a 2 year girl is going to go in to surgery to remove four of the eight limbs she was born with. She is joined what the doctors call it PARASITIC twin that stopped developing in the mothers womb. The surviving fetus absorbed the limbs, kidneys, and other body parts of the undeveloped fetus. Her parents decided to name her lakshmi after a Hindu goddess of wealth who had four arms. Other people wanted to make money off her. Her parents kept her in hiding because a circus wanted to buy her, they said. There are complications for lakshmi surgery because the two spines are MERGED, she has four kidneys, ENTANGLED nerves, two stomach cavities and two chest cavities. the risk of losing lakshmi is between 20 to 25 percent. The hospital is paying for the operation because the girls family couldn’t afford medical bills. A team of 30 doctors was participating in the surgery.
I think that this little girl would have been going through a lot if she have never have received the surgery because she would have never had a normal life. If she never had got the surgery I don’t think she would have lived past her teen years.
I feel that her parents are very relieved that her surgery was free.

2007 now the deadliest year for U.S. Troops in Iraq.

Five U.S. Troop deaths in Iraq brought 2007 as the deadliest American military war in Iraq. A total of 854 deaths for this year. The killings were in two seperate roadside bombings. The total number of deaths of the U.S. Military in Iraq stands up to 3,857 including seven civilian contractors of the Defense Department. The numbers have dropped.

I think that this war is pointless, its basically a war just to kill each other and prove who is stronger. I think this war is only bringing more problems.

=2007 Deadliest Year For Troops=
Les than two months left in the year, 2007 is on course to be the deadliest year on record for American forces in Iraq, despite a recent sharp decrease in U.S. deaths. At least 847 American military personnel have died in Iraq so far this year, the second-highest annual toll since the war began in March 2003, according to Associated Press figures.
=Toyota And Its Hybrids=
The Prius was a big step forward for the future of green cars. Next up for Toyota and its rivals: Far more powerful batteries for next-generation hybrids. Toyota has gotten a kick from the Prius, enhanced global image for technological innovation, social responsibility and fashionable glamour.
=Offensive Party=
In a found raiser party were 50-75 attended, Julie Mires the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and host of the party. In the party people say that some costumes were insulting and offensive. Were a man drest in striped prison suit and wearing dark make up with dreads. The party which was a fundraiser will be investigated for what it is being accused of.
I think since the party was a “costumes party” people shouldn’t be offended its just a costume.
Also people were there to have fun not to be accused of something that was to be for fun and games.
The head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement should have been aware of all this.
As head of ICE, Myers heads the law enforcement agency charged with enforcing Immigration law here in the U.S. It is the second largest investigative agency in the federal government, with more than 15,000 employees, including 6,000 investigators.

Hey, if you believe it, say it loud: toilet to tap
There is a debate whether if recycled sewage water should be constructed and used as tap water. This category has brought much controversy to many people. People are beginning to analyze that the City Council is hiding something behind the phrase “toilet to tap”. From the text that most people refer to, they think that the sewage water will have a pipe going straight to our sinks, the tap water we use. The council states that they have taken them by mistake. They state that this new idea of sewage used water is well purified and filtered and that it is simply cleaner than San Diego’s tap water and other bottled waters. But will people really realize that all the water that is used now will later affect other water resources that supply us with fresh water. I believe that the best way to maintain ourselves from a water shortage is by recycling our water and use toilet to tap. But I wonder will this new water really be clean? And how much will they spend on making these machines to purify our water? And most of all will this money be worth the spending and bring a benefit to our society? I think people should start using better strategies to recycle. I believe it will help benefit us all and even our natural resources.

san diego union tribune;

summary; This morning I read text from the newspapwer on a man who was found dead in a cave. The man was found near Tecate last Sunday and M.E.O. is positive that he died of fire injuries. They are verified that the cause was last month's firestorm. The man cannot be identified although he was carrying identification. It is suspected that he had just crossed the border illegally right beofre the accident. But he is not the only one affected by the fires, it is said that 6 other people who were attempting to cross illegally also died due to the fire.

reflection; I think it's karma in a sense. If people were smart enough not to risk such a crime and attempt doing things the right way this would have never happened.

interesting fact; In addition, 8 of the 12 remaing patients in UCSD MEdical Center's burn unit are believed to have crossed illegally before being rescued.

Union Tribune: A marine was Convicted of recruit abuse.
Today I have read a short article about a Drill instructor Marine Sgt. Jerrod Glass he is twenty five years old. He is from San Diego and was found guilty of assault and mistreatment yesterday in one of the nations worst cases of recruit abuse to ever come to light. This will certainly end Glass’ military career. In August he was charged with more than 225 counts of recruit abuse. They have concluded he abused around 23 of the 45 recruits under his charge in late 2006. Based on the convictions he could do about 9 ½ years in prison and a bad conduct charge. They asked various people about how Mr. Glass would act and everyone outside of the military said he was very patient and always wanted to help people. One of the marines he abused said that he beat him 70 times in 30 min. Eventually Glass was found guilty for two counts of violating a lawful order, two counts of maltreatment, three counts of destruction of property and one count of assault. During the Glass trial, 23 Marines from Platoon 2167 testified that he hit him. They also testified he made them drink lots of water and when they threw up he forced him to roll around their vomit. I think that these actions are unacceptable. They should charge him with more counts of assault because that is what he did to all those poor marines.
