Senior puts focus on world issues.

Morse High School has made a big iMPACT on focusing on world issues. Jon Yturralde has created an organization where the school has helped donate over 250 pounds of school supplies to high schools he visited in Uganda. Every student club, 150 teachers and all administrators had signed on to support Yturralde's effort. He PERCEiVES his STRUCTURE as helping the world. Each of the 23 student clubs has reasearched an issue, such as famine, AIDS and human trafficking, and organized an activity based on the issue. Their goal is to help people in other countries live in the world they wish to live in.

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Marine Convicted OF Recruit Abuse
- The article that I read today was about a drill sgt. Who is convicted of recruit abuse. The article says a former drill instructor in San Diego was found guilty of assault and mistreatment yesterday in one of the nations worst cases of recruit abuse to ever come to light. Marine sgt. Jerrod Glass, 25, showed no emotion as the military jury's president, col. Warren Foersch, announced guilty for each of the eight charges listed. The verdict will definitely have a great IMPACT on Glass’s career. He was a well STRUCTURED marine who rose up fast. He was charged with more than 225 counts of recruit abuse. Those charges were narrowed down to eight.
- I think that this drill sgt. Is really messed up. It is hard for someone to PERCEIVE people like this. How do they want us to trust the government with these kinds of things.
- One interesting thing that I learned is that on one occasion he beat someone with a wooden tent pole because he could open his foot locker.

Today in the union tribune I read that in southern California houses prices have gone down more than 50% because of the wildfires. This has not happened for the past 12 years. Dataquick information systems reported that sales from Ventura to san Diego were at their lowest for any October since the La Jolla based firm keeping records In 1988.in the greatest drop off, year to year sales were down 54.8% in san Bernardino county. For the first time since 1997, housing prices in los Angeles county has declined. As has been the case for several months, san Diego county's slide was not as severe as other counties’ drops.
I think that it’s a pretty cool thing that their selling houses so low because people really like that even if there's a 50-50 chance that another one will come again

“Old Globe’s Craig Noel to receive national honor”
Old Globe Theatre founding director Craig Noel will receive the National Medal of Arts, that’s a big impact for a lot of us because he it very old, he its going to receive this medal from president bush and Laura bush at a white house ceremony today. Like all the artistic people can perceive it is the federal governments highest honor given to artist and arts patrons. Other recipients this year include painter Andrew Wyeth, guitar pioneer les Paul and novelist N. Scott Momaday. Consider the “father of San Diego theater” and the lone surviving dean of American's regional theater movement, Noel has been associated with the old globe. This structure was made before the year 1935.
I agree, they should give the globe medal to noel.
I also agree because he it’s the oldest person in this theater.
I agree too because the was in this theater since 1937.
I think the most interesting fact its that he lives in SanDiego and he its going all the way to Washington D.C. to get it.

♫The article I read about today was about a marine who is convicted of recruit abuse. The marine eight charges, eight charges could add up to 9 ½ years. A former driller instructor in San Diego was found guilty of assault and mistreatment yesterday. This was one of the nations worst cases of recruit abuse ever. The marines name is Sgt. Jerrod Glass and he is only 25 years old. The verdict will almost certainly end Glass’ reconstructed military career. He was a fast rising marine until prosecutors charged him in August with more than 225 counts of recruit abuse. Those charges were winnowed to eight for his court martial.

♫Reflection:
♫ The article I read about today was issued very awkward I never though that a sergeant would get arrested or charged for some thing so bad. I have always wanted to join the marines but with this article I read about today I think I rather do something else in life instead of risking my life of being abused. People should think about the consequences before they do something like what this sergeant did.

♫Fact:
♫An important fact that I summarized in this article is that Glass abused 23 of the 45 recruits under his charge in late 2006 and early this year at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

I was reading an incredibly interesting article in the newspaper today about music and the brain. The new neuroscience scientific experiment has been led by Dan Levitin and a group of researchers at McGill University in Montreal. The research has indicated that when humans listen to music they use a great part of their brains. Also that various sections of the brain are active when listening to music. They have also discovered that music has a colossal IMPACT on brain development. Theories have shown that when a fetus is exposed to music at the early stages of development it can grow up to be a smarter child. Now this study has proven that it might just be true. Music enhances visual perception, analytical thinking skills and physical coordination. The brain STRUCTURE is a complex one and can easily store many things yet scientists have discovered that it is al least twice as easy to remember things if music is involved. Since the brain can store these lyrics for long periods of time it is hard to forget them. Young adulthood is when our brains and our bodies are developing the fastest and we are full emotional and hormonal impulses so the music we learn during this period is the one that year later we will still remember. This is because the brain PERCIEVES music through areas that deal with memories like the hippocampus, the amygdala, the nucleus accumbens and the cerebellum. This is very important because the research also shows that people who suffer from Alzheimer’s can remember music from when they were young but not faces the saw yesterday. Overall the article was really interesting.

Amputee agrees to stop driving in face of prison time;

This morning I read an article based on the text i read on a guy named, Michael Francis Wiley. This was a story was about how nothing could stop him from driving behind the wheel, not even a triple amputation that makes simple tasks suck as tying a shoe impossible. Police who arrested Wiley so many times that it made it a felony for him to drive but that still did not stop him. But he is now at the end of the road and Wiley is scheduled to face a judge tomorrow for sentence ing on a new round of felony charges. Wiley is being charged for traffic and drug possession. Prosecuters want to put him in prison for atleast five years and this time Wiley says he's going to turn in his keys for good. Wiley lost his arms and most of his left leg in a 1980 accident when he was only thirteen years old. He learned to live without limbs. He taught himself to drive without arms. He starts the car with his toes, shifts with his knee, and steers with the stumb of his arm. He turns on the light with his teeth. Driving, he said, is one of the few things that lets him feel free and exert his independence. He says that he's an excellent driver and that it's one of the things he's good at all by himself.

Reflection;
This article was interesting from start to finish, it's amazing how someone who does not have any limbs manages to drive and cause trouble driving at the same time.

Today I read a story, it was about a guy that was guilty of him killing a child. They gave him less than five years in prison. They say that the mom and the moms boyfriend took the two year old baby to the hospital and the baby was severely burned and had lots of scabs. When the police questioned them they said that the baby was walking around and a boiling pot cooking hot dogs fell and burned the baby. Later on trial the girlfriend agreed to plead guilty to child abuse. The guy plead guilty and did only five years.

O.J.s Trial
After getting away with murder O.J. Simpson is now back in court. But now he is facing a robbery charge and also kidnapping allegation. The impact that this trial has done on public is tremendous. The defense team says that this will be a hard to del trial. O.J. Simpson has no jurors in the court yet. He said that he relies on the jury team like always. He also said that he was not aware that there was any robbery going on. He says that he dint know that his companions even had guns. But to take the court to a legit trial it would take a year.
I think that the way the trial is structured is just delaying everything and stalling the case.
The case is difficult to what I see because both sides have good stories and evidence.
The case is a slow moving one because of the people involved so there fore it will take a long time to cover.
Nether Simpson nor the other defendants did not testify at the trial.

The article I read today was about Cromartie & the Chargers. For those few humans on this planet who have athletic talent the rest of us cannot explain and can only partially believe, amazing feats are accomplished once the game slows down. This is what has happened for Antonio Cromartie over the past month, a span of four games in which he has scored three touchdowns and intercepted six passes. Cromartie said, "You start recognizing stuff from watching film, and you go out and just play football." The best thing for him was going out to practice everyday and having great practices. He said he has been doing good because his coaches have showed him how to watch film and how to go about it and what to look for. Thats why he is so good on the field now.

Interesting fact- He did the longest record return for a 109 yards

Thanksgiving for the Indians

Indians speak out against Thanksgiving it should be a time for morning instead of time of thanks. We have to stand together and support on another or come to a compromise as to what they believe and what we believe thanksgiving should be. I feel that the Indians should speak out because this was there land first. But also I understand the fact that we cant change a holiday that has been around for years. This holiday is a memorial for those who like to give thanks for what they have been blessed with over the passed year in there life. We as Americans need to stand together and actually decide whether or not we can have some integrity and give the Indians what the ask for instead of being so stubborn this is what makes America different opinons.

Senior puts focus on world issues
In the first article that I read I learned of a High School setting a good example. Morse High School is holding a week were they EXAMINE the world issues like AIDS and poverty. They are calling the week Consciousness Week in which 23 of the schools student clubs are participating each with their own topic ILLUSTRATE their own projects to help their topic. Consciousness week was started by one student as his senior project. He began rallying people after a PREVIOUS trip to Uganda with Campus Crusade for Christ where he could PERCIVE a lot of poverty in Africa.
Sometimes it does take a person to bring issues to light and when one person does many people do tend to rally around because it is in human nature to help one another. We can’t always gloss over others suffering so maybe if we see more thing like this we will eventually be able to act more as one world undivided by borders and united trough suffering.
The most interesting fact that I have learned in this article is that every action can step its scale to a larger audience and that could be a very good IMPACT on life.
Musharraf rival Surfaces, then is arrested
In the second article that I read I learned of some small peaceful opposition to the militant rule on Pakistan. Khan a former politician was arrested after rallying people at University. The STRUCTURE was a protest against the loss of basic human rights in Pakistan. Khan was expected to make a speech but was arrested by the Jamiat-e-talba.
In both article I learned of people that have good impacts on their country and their world.

Singing in the voice
Music is said to be consumed in every human culture. Since thousands of years ago music has been identified to be around human activities. Scientists have experimented the relationship between the human brain and music. At the earliest ages of development as an embryo is kept inside the womb, it has been verified that music can be a significance that becomes familiar to the young infant, the first time it has been heard. At the age of 5 months a human is able to remember specific songs and can tell when a note or chord is done incorrectly. No other specie is said to be capable of maintaining a favorite song in mind and sing with near-perfect pitch and tempo. Humans use music as a structure of collectively and individually, in ways that are just beginning to be perceived by scientists, in matters never thought or concluded before that led to be understood. Most of the population of human race are found to contain some sort of impact on music that produces a mental connection to music. How and why humans invented music, will be a debate that will probably never be solved. But it is especially evident that humans where who created music, whether if the got the idea from animals who sing little songs or not. Music was produced by humans form and thinking a hypothesis and solution. Everyone listens to music and it is placed every where and arouses all our interests.

Union Tribune: Subway's 'voice' sacked over slam.
Today I have read a short article on a woman who works for a subway. Her name is Emma Clarke and has been recording messages for London's subway network known as the Tube, since 1999. This woman is the voice, she tells people how much time they have so they can come in or how long it will take. This woman was interviewed by writer for The Mail on Sunday paper. She said that she hated taking the subway and hearing her own voice repeatedly. The comment she maid got her fired. The paper also featured the woman's website and it warned passengers of the subway to not stare at a woman's chest and told American tourists that they usually talk too loud. Transport for London noted that some of the announcements were quite funny, but spokesman Dan Hodges said Clarke's attack on the subway itself crossed the line. I think that they were not funny. How cares what she said, I think that it was no reason to fire her but it was there decision not hers.
