Heismen

Tim Tebow is a college student heading to the number one Heisman spot after, he crushed the number one Oregon ducks. He plays for the Florida Gators and him and the gators are on a role this year winning 81% of there games this year. Close behind him is the Oregon state ducks quarterback is Dennis Dixon who looks very much like a young Michael Vick. Although did not play this weeks because of the bye week of this week. I am pretty sure that he will get his spot back this week. To summarize Tim Tebow attitude he ran for five touchdowns he seems to believe that he carries the Florida state Gators. Unlike Dennis Dixon who throws as first option then last he seems to have a fire burning with all his team mates. To Summarize all this I believe that Dennis Dixon will win the Heisman. My only issue with Tebow is that he will go to the NFL thinking he carries a team and he is the whole team.

LAS VEGAS – The New Frontier casino-hotel was imploded early Tuesday, giving a violent end to the second property to open on the Las Vegas Strip. The 16-story hotel tower was felled with over 1,000 pounds of explosives before a group of reporters and bystanders to make way for a multibillion-dollar resort bearing The Plaza brand, which is set to open in 2011.
Elad Group owner and Israeli billionaire Yitzhak Tshuva, who is partnering to build an $8 billion megaresort where the New Frontier stood, shook hands and gave hugs after the tower went down.
An easterly breeze helped to quickly dissipate the dust.
The New Frontier earned historical notations by becoming the Strip's first theme casino and hosting Elvis Presley's debut in the city.
The low-key gambling hall, which opened as the Last Frontier in 1942 with a cowboy village theme and later embraced the space age before returning to its Wild West roots, had become known for bikini bull riding, cheap hotel rooms and $5 craps before it closed its doors for good in July.
Ive seen that hotel casino many times when I used to live there.it was always empty. Its about time they burned it down.

Disabled man not lovin' it after snubs at McDonald's.

A man by the name of Mark Carlson is a hard working man who is working at the Access to Independence office. He talks to people about their rights as being disabled and having the right to go into public places with their helper dogs. Mark, who is nearly blind himself had the urge to eat at McDonald's one morning for and Egg McMuffin'. Mark was refused service because he had a dog. Mark continuously tried telling the employee that the dog is a helper dog, showing the paperwork and license of the dog as EViDENCE to solve the iSSUE. Mark was still refused his service. Mark went back to his job, SUMMARiZED the story to employees and a couple of police officers. After three attempts of trying to get his food, he has been denied service until the police got involved. After getting names, talking to managers and telling them that he did not want to sue anyone, he finally got the respect he wanted. He came in once again greeted by employees and given the best service while the others who denied his service were looking dumb.

I think the manager and that employee have got to be the dumbest people ever, maybe the employee could have gotten away with his mistake but the manager should have known right away that disabled people have rights. Everyone knows that people can come in with helper dogs. I think those two people should be punished somehow like a demotion or something.

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Unhappy history repeats
- The article that I read today was about a serious ISSUE a couple that has lost their home twice. The couple had rebuilt after Cedar fire only to loose their home again. Skip miller says he and his wife, Linda, are thinking about rebuilding their house underground. The article says there is no faltering as skip and Linda miller step through blackened bits of wood on their property, no quaver in their voices as they talk about what they lost when their hilltop home near Descanso was destroyed by wildfire. Maybe it is because they went through this four years ago, when they lost their previous home on the same spot to the Cedar fire. Or maybe its because losing their possessions means little compared to the comfort of knowing that two of their children both U.S. Forest Service firefighters are unharmed after battling the blazes that scorched Southern California. The millers appear to be the only San Diego County family to loose a home on the same site in last months fires and in the 2003 wild fires. The EVIDENCE for this was the San Diego Union Tribune.
-so to SUMMARIZE this I think that this is a sad article. If I lost two houses for the same thing I probably wouldn’t feel comfortable living in that area. But it is true what they said that they fell comfortable because their two sons are ok. Materials is nothing compared to life.
- One interesting thing that I learned is that they are also among the few victims of the Oct. 21 McCoy fire.

Today in the union tribune I read about two people by the name of skip and Linda miller, whose house was burned down not once but twice in the two fires that occurred about three years apart. The first house that was burned was the fire in 2003. skip miller had built the home. After the McCoy fire burned their second home they now live in the motor home on their property that they own. They have made it a choice to stay. As their children hear about it daughter Jamie 26, and son Chris 23 the two firefighters were shocked to hear their parents home had burned down for the second time. As the report goes on the millers are thinking of building a house underground because it would be safe from fires.
I think that I would have moved after the first fire burned my house down because if its going to happen once its going to happen again
I feel that if they should build their house underground they should find out if its safe because it would be dangerous living underground.
I learned that the miller family are the only people in that area that had their house burn down twice in both fires.

The article I read about today was about an Art Museum that just opened up for the public and it would let the Artist's be up close and be able to talk about what they do, and why. This new museum opened up in Encinitas, and was made to keep the Artist's close to the people. It is actually pretty good for the Artist's that are going to show work there because they have alot of space to show everyone and to finish their work. They will be able to SUMMARIZE their work with everyone there and the people will get a better understanding of what their work is, and why they do it. The whole building is made up of studio, gallery, and living space for the Artist's, which makes things less of an ISSUE for the Artist's. They gave the name LUX, meaning LIGHT in Latin. They have all the EVIDENCE they need to show people that it is their own work and no copy because they get to do it right there in front of them. Tthey wont have to be driving from home the Artist could just stay there and FOCUS on their work, and then let the spectators EXAMINE it. I think this project was a good ALTERNATIVE instead of making something else people wouldnt go to or wouldnt be usefull to the community.

interesting fact, The Artist's actually get to live in the studio where they work.

I READ ABOUT "AIRCRAFT CARRIERS ON HORIZON FOR CHINA?"

Aircraft carriers on horizon for China? In Tianjin China tourists board an old Russian aircraft carrier, ”the Kiev”. China remains the only major global power without aircraft carriers in the naval fleet. Now public sentiment is running strongly in favor of launching a program to built aircraft carriers, and some military experts say construction may be inevitable. China's military has grown at double-digit rate for nearly two decades and now has supersonic missiles and nuclear submarines. When it comes to aircraft carriers, thought, its no so much military leaders voicing an operational need as an impatient public demanding construction.
I disagree in a way because china could take over the world if they want , I said this because they are already the most powerful naval fleet without aircrafts.
In the other hand I agree, that’s because they also have right to do their own army.
I also agree because they could go to war and they could need it.
The most interesting fact its that they already have supersonic missiles, and nuclear submarines, I think this is the most interesting fact because I didn’t know they where the most powerful naval fleet army.

Power lines gat little priority in fire Prevention
In the first article that I read I learned of a connection between power lines and fires. To SUMMERIZE 15% of California's worst fires are suspected to be caused by power lines. This start seems to be the case with the Rice fire which destroyed 200 homes last month. Fires that start from power lines are usually caused by high winds but overgrown vegetation and bird electrocution also contribute to the fires started by the electrical wires. The most effective solution is the most expensive burying the wires would avoid causing fires all together but at the cost of a million dollars of miles it is not the most practical. Clearing the brush is the alternative and one that is in use but the electric companies seem to be neglectful of this as in 2001 they were sued by a company because they transferred 8 million dollars of clearing brush to profit leading them to believe that it was their negligence that began the fire.
In this article quite a lot was highlighted, good ides and neglected ones including continual updates of how vegetation was doing in fire prone areas. Its been six years since the wheels have been in motion and their appears to be EVIDENCE of too little little change I can only hope that with more articles like this one we can come to understand why strong preventive measures must be taken even if it is just letting people know of impending danger.

Historic Loses
In last months fires not just regular old houses were lost. But over $20 million worth of loss do to the historic buildings that were burned in the fires. These houses and about 16 farm houses were from the 19th century. This has been the biggest loss of historic properties in the history of our county. Out of many historic buildings that once stood only three remain. Bruce Coons an expert in historic items said in a positive way that the fire fighters did an outstanding gob. But they should of known what buildings to protect more than others. Their response was to say that their not in any position to know what structures could have been saved.
I think that the fire officers could have done any better.
I also believe that those buildings were valuable in a treasures way but we have to focus on the positive way and use the free land or space to reconstruct other buildings.
The way people get attached to things is not good we have to learn to let go.

The article I read about today was about a disabled man who was refused service at McDonalds. Mark Carlson who is a disabled man who went into McDonalds early Thursday morning and got refused service. The lady at he restaurant told him I’m sorry sir but your pet is not allowed here. Mark is disabled because he has retinitis pigmentosa. Retinitis Pigmentosa is a disease that allows you to see shapes but not details. You can recognize a head though you can not see the face. The lady that refused to serve Mark did not believe that he was disabled because he did not act like a blind man. The next day they apologized to him because they found out about his disability. Now he is greeted warmly at the door for the inconvenience.

REFLECTION:
I think that what the people that did at McDonalds was rather rude, but at the same time I think that there actually doing a good job at work. I think that it was rude because why would someone insist on not leaving with there pet unless they really did need it. I think that next time someone shows the rights the person has with the pet they should believe them.

FACT:
An important fact that I read in this article was that California law guarantees a blind person the right to be accompanied by a specially trained dog in all public accommodations.

Today I read, an article about guns. This story is about a veteran from the Iran Iraq war, he was distributing the pentagon supplied weapons from the Baghdad police academy armory in to his own private bazaar with approval from some U.S. officials and executives. They were also selling AK-47s, Glock pistols and heavy machine guns to anyone who has money. The U.S. military lost 190,000 pistols and automatic rifles supplied by the united states to Iraq's security forces. Also 3,000 Glocks issued to police cadets disappeared within a week when they were sold on the black market. They say that some weapons fell into the hands of guerrillas responsible for attacks against turkey an important U.S ally.

♥ san diego union tribune
♥ summary; This morning I read an article in the San Diego Union Tribune on meat with E. coli. In this article, I learned that the government is saying that this issue is ok as long as there is a sign on the meat that states, "COOK ONLY." There is no evidence "cook only" meat directly sickened consumers but some inspector contend the practice conceal significantly higher levels of E. coli bacteria in packages. The main concenrs are who is already at risk and it's a shame to say that *everyone* is at risk. Most of the major meat companies offer cooked meat products such as, meat loaf, hamburgers, & taco meat. This company also sponsered a national school lunch in 2006, according their records. Officials are not sure if the total beef at the event was tested positive for E. coli, though.
♥ personal reflection; I am glad that this information is now made public but there is nothing in the article saying that they would put a stop to selling meat with E.coli.
♥ interesting fact; Officials say that the theory behind labeling, "cook only," lowers the value of the raw meat.

N.Y. governor may back off plan to offer IDs to illegal immigrants
The governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer had a debate of weather allowing illegal immigrants living in New York to issue a drivers license in the state. The governor Spitzer idea has brought much issue among his presidential election. Be he states that the good factors from giving illegal's their license to driver would make changes such as making traffic easier, shrink the high rates in auto insurance, and boost the security by identifying more immigrants living here illegally. Candidates opposing the law have summarized that there are many risk in security consisting among illegal's with drivers license. Others have also made proclamations that by this new idea it could be evident to encourage more illegal immigrants into the state. Which means if immigrants do get their drivers license, news will spread quickly and the population of immigrants living here in the US will increase. There could be a good alternative for them but bad for some Americans who would probably loose their jobs. All immigrants come to the US for a reason to make a better life. But only half of those who cross here illegally bring a positive affect into the US while, there are others that take advantage of the situation, by coming here and becoming junkies or getting locked up. So I believe that if immigrants want to earn the right to become a citizen here they should really prove it, because the other half of their population that is not so good is making them look bad. Which makes all other citizens here in America believe that immigrants will do no good to our society. When really I believe that they can bring a positive change among us not only for us but for their kids and families as well.
