Article;; Study: Teen drug use declining; pain killers still popular.
Summary;; This morning’s blog is based on the article found at cnn.com about teen drug use. The study shows that drug use by teen is continuing to decline but the interest in prescription painkillers remains popular among the younger people. The study shows that teens from the 8th- 12th grade were showing less interest in meth and marijuana. Sadly, the two that are still relatively popular is cocaine and vicodin. Overall, the proportion of eighth-graders reporting drug use in the last 12 months is down to 13%. The 10th graders, the rates dropped to 28% and 12th graders dropped to 36%. The most encouraging statistic to researches and probably everyone else is the decline in meth because it is the most deadly. The study also reported an increase is the use of ecstasy. Ecstasy use among teens dropped dramatically in the early 2000’s because people were scared of the effects but for the last two years, the use has increased with teens of the upper grades. President Bush says that he thinks it’s important to continue to confront this challenge and the overall direction is hopeful.
Reflection;; I have known about teen drug use since I started going to middle school. This was no surprise to me, but the statistics were. I am happy to read that teens are realizing that doing drugs is not cool. & Hopefully, the use in painkillers declines too. [:
Interesting Fact;; The use of Meth has been declining since it was first measured in 1999. Annual prevalence is now down by about two-thirds in all three grades from what it was in 1999.
Confessed serial killer had law enforcement degree.
A man by the name of Timothy Krajcir has finally confessed many of his murders. Krajcir first was arrested in his early 30’s for rape charges. After he was released, he studied psychology and the criminal justice system. He eventually graduated from Southern Illinois with a degree in law enforcement. This was the perfect way for him to be able to cover up his fetish for killing women. Krajcir was able to PLOT his plan for his victims carefully to cover up the EVIDENCE before the police can IDENTIFY the suspect. Krajcir used his STRATEGY of law enforcement STRUCTURES as an ALTERNATIVE as to getting away with his crime. Krajcir confessed to many of his crimes, he could be hiding more but he confessed enough information to get himself back into prison.
Well I know that education is a right given to everyone no matter what. But I feel that some people should not get it if you can relate that education as a link to crimes they’ve committed repeatedly. Hopefully this man is locked away forever with no protection against him. He deserves the worst type of punishment, with no chances and I’m pretty sure he knows that too.
Study; Teen drug use declining; painkillers still popular.
In today's article in the CNN it is to be said that teenagers are now saying no to drugs, but parents and others shouldn’t get there hopes up. They are now very much into painkillers, over this whole year there have been nothing but teens declining drugs but saying yes to painkillers which is very popular among teens right now as the government had said. Researchers in Michigan viewed the behavior in 8th, 10th and 12th grader’s nation wide. Finding that even though the drug rate on weed is low they found out that cocaine is still a popular drug. When searching about the 8th grade students they found that in a 12 month period students have tried a drug, which led to 24% but that was in 96’ now it has dropped nearly about half. Rate between 10th grade has dropped 39%. Drug use is very much used now, it is very popular among young kids, although parents have had that drug talk with them kids don’t always seem to understand.
To me I strongly believe that kids teens they are all going to try a drug once in there life not that maybe drink. but one is that its amazing how unpopular weed is now things little by little change everything has its cause and slowly drugs will be gone but for now people have to speak to there young ones because if you tend to make sense and make your teens mind listen you wont have to worry about any type of drug to be used by she/he.
This article I chose to read because It just seemed very important topic;; now days drugs is all you hear about and if it isn't about using its about stealing or selling. It just all seemed very interesting how much things have changed over the years.
I was reading an article from CNN News and was very sadden a bout what I read. Just recently Algiers, Algeria, received a bombing in its UN headquarters. The bombing practically destroyed the whole UN building and up to this point officials believed it also claimed the lives of 76 people. Two cars that had been parked nearby the UN offices suddenly went off causing a great explosion. Authorities believe that the cars had been carrying at least 1,763 pounds of explosives in order to cause such a great detonation. First one car exploded and ten minutes later the other one followed in suit. The bombers were discovered to be linked to al Qaeda. It the militants web site the group prided itself in the bombing even saying that the attack was “another successful conquest and a second epic that the knights of faith have dictated with their blood, defending the wounded Islamic nation and in defiance to the Crusaders and their agents, the slaves of America and the sons of France.” officials also stated that when captured the men involved in the attack would be severely punished and they would be given the harshest of penalties. The group that is now part of the al Qaeda militant group used to be an actual Algerian terrorist group but through merging with al Qaeda became more powerful and their attacks on innocent victims more potent in their assault and purpose.
Today I read a story about a serial killer that had killed five women. The guys name was Timothy Krajcir, he had went to enroll in college to study psychology and the criminal justice system. They were saying that he had murdered six women in two different states. Now he is 63 and he confessed to nine murders earlier this month. Prosecutors were trying to build a case on timothy Krajcir on three murders he had confessed to.
“Teen Drug Use Declining; Painkillers Still Popular”
►In the cnn.com I read it said that licit drug use by teens continued affecting to the decline gradually overall this year, but the use of prescription painkillers remains popular among young people, according to a federally financed study tested released Tuesday at the with house. Overall, the proportion of eighth-graders reporting use of an illicit drug at least once in the involved 12 month before the survey was 24 percent in 1996. it now has fallen the maintained 13 percent -- a structural drop of nearly half.
►I don’t agree on this report because they are saying that more than the half was using illicit drugs.
►I also don’t agree because I don’t think they reported something.
►I don’t agree also because that were asking all 12 months.
►I think the most interesting fact its that the analysis have come out from the with house.
Music is said to be consumed in every human culture. Since thousands of years ago music has been identified to be around human activities. Scientists have experimented the relationship between the human brain and music. At the earliest ages of development as an embryo is kept inside the womb, it has been verified that music can be a significance that becomes familiar to the young infant, the first time it has been heard. At the age of 5 months a human is able to remember specific songs and can tell when a note or chord is done incorrectly. No other specie is said to be capable of maintaining a favorite song in mind and sing with near-perfect pitch and tempo. Humans use music as a structure of collectively and individually, in ways that are just beginning to be perceived by scientists, in matters never thought or concluded before that led to be understood. Most of the population of human race are found to contain some sort of impact on music that produces a mental connection to music. How and why humans invented music, will be a debate that will probably never be solved. But it is especially evident that humans where who created music, whether if the got the idea from animals who sing little songs or not. Music was produced by humans form and thinking a hypothesis and solution. Everyone listens to music and it is placed every where and arouses all our interests.
♫The article I read about today was about teens using painkillers. A lot of teenagers are being prescribed painkillers at their doctors. The drug use my teens is continuing to decline gradually overall this year. A lot of these young teens use there prescription pills to drug themselves. The percentage of teenagers using drugs has dropped a lot since the year 1996. it dropped 11 percent. A lot of eight, tenth, and twelfth grade students use marijuana and methamphetamines. But now the only drug that is still going around and most teenagers are using are prescription drugs it is still a big problem in the country.
♫Reflection =]
♫ What I think about this article is surprised. I kind of have a an idea about why so many teenagers ask their doctors to prescribe them painkillers. I have gotten prescribed painkillers but I only use them the way I get them prescribed to me. I think that doctors should only prescribe painkillers to teenagers who really need them.
♫Fact =]
♫ An important fact that I read about in this article was that young adults use the painkillers as the newest most popular drug.
