SD Union Tribune;;
Article;; Housing Prices Still Holding Up Fairly Well in San Diego
Summary;; This morning’s blog is based on an article about high prices in San Diego homes. The article was based on a study released last week by the U.S. Council of Mayors, San Diego did not even make the top 50 list of communities that will hurt by the decline in home prices next year. San Diego actually ranked 88th place in a roster of 362 areas nationwide. Compared to the study, San Diego will lose $1.6 billion in gross because of the housing crisis. This is also reduce our economic growth by 0.9%. So compared to the rest of the nation, San Diego is holding up fairly well. Another thing to keep note of is that the median home price in the San Diego County has dropped by $30,000 over the past year.
Reflection;; I don’t really have any opinion except for the fact that I don’t think prices are fair. I think that housing should still go down a little because they are still very expensive.

A train and a freight train collided on IMPACT on Friday November 30th, in Chicago's South Side. There were187 passengers on board of the Amtrak train, which was traveling from Chicago to Rapid Falls, Michigan. After ANALYZING the EVIDENCE, officials stated that 71 of those passengers had received injuries but none were major or fatal. Three people on board had to be hospitalized overnight but they were released the next day. Now officials are trying to EVALUATE what key factor played the ROLE in causing the two trains to collide. So far the EVIDENCE has been accumulating and officials will keep investigating to see what caused the train wreck. Some police surveillance cameras on a nearby pole recorded the incident. Yet officials are saying that the investigation will still take some months to solve. In my opinion I am glad no one was seriously injured and that officials are taking their time to actually investigate and search for the cause of the train wreck.

“‘shelter in place’ kept flames at bay”
Today in the news I read about some guy, when the order came to evacuate his home near Rancho Santa Fe, Emil Costa already had made up the context of his mind to stay, despite his wife’s frantic pleas. Why should he flee, the retired physician reasoned, when he lives in one of the nation’s few “shelter in place” communities? Costa, who stayed alone, calmly watched from behind closed doors and windows as dense smoke darkened the sky and wild-whipped flames leapt across the hillside. They evaluated that none of the equate 2400 upscale tract and custom homes in the country’s five shelter-in-place communities was destroyed.
I agree to involve more of this shelter-in-place communities, because it’s a good place to stay during the wildfires.
I agree too because in case of other fire they would be zero percent of the houses burned.
I also agree because none of the structures of the houses in there burned.
I think the most interesting fact its that none of the 2400 custom homes were destroyed.

Medical marijuana is stings target doctors and there credibility. Doctors are getting treated as if they are purposely giving out marijuana to those who don’t need it. The medical board wants to focus on revoking the license of legal marijuana, because people are taking advantage of the good research system. There were a number of doctors targeted by San Diego Police department and one doctor who was giving out free marijuana. The doctors are stating that they are just trying to help the community in the best way and there saying if the people need marijuana for there illness then they should have that’s how you save lives. I think that some doctors are taking advantage of this right but I also think that they are just trying to help out the community. The impact of legalizing marijuana would have Americans consume to much and leave work areas lazy and un productive.
As for cancelling marijuana prescription that should not be necessary. Some people actually need it so they can get through there normal day. Marijuana has a affect to put people in a state of false vision. Police are putting a emphasis on kids doing drugs and driving.

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Graveyard shift deemed probable cancer cause
- The TEXT that I read today FOCUSES on the graveyard shift. It INVOLVES an EVALUATION that was done in London SUMMARIZING that cancer is probably DERIVED from working the graveyard shift. Like UV rays and Diesel exhaust fumes, working the graveyard shift will soon be listed as a SIGNIFICANT cause of cancer. the higher cancer rates don’t VERIFY that working overnight can cause cancer. However scientist PERCEIVE that overnight work is dangerous because it AFFECTS the circadian rhythm. the hormone melatonin which can suppress tumor development is normally produced at night. Scientist believe that having lower melatonin levels can raise the risk of cancer.
- I think that this is an interesting article. If it is going to be declared as a cause of cancer then the overnight shift people will have to be paid more. Good thing that I know this now because in the future I am not going to work in the graveyard shift.
- One interesting thing that I learned is that nearly 20 percent of the working population in developed countries work night shifts.

♫ The article I read about this morning was about HIV infection. Apparently the HIV infection rate is much more higher in the United States. The federal health officials say that in the U.S. more and more people are getting infected with HIV. While the people this year who have gotten infected with the disease no one is quite sure if more people have been infected with HIV. In recent years or the figures are simply a better estimate than the old ones. So they are trying to figure out which year had the highest rate in which how many people got infected with the disease. For about the estimate of 14 years the centers for Disease Control and Prevention used some type of formal methods to estimate that near 40,000 people every year get infected with HIV. The most recent numbers of the people who have just been infected with the disease has not yet been released publicly.

♫Reflection =]
♫ What I read this morning was very interesting. Every year there is more and more getting infected with the disease and there’s no real cure for it as I’m informed. I hope they find a cure for this horrible disease soon.

♫Fact =]
♫ An interesting fact that I learned in this article was that from 2001 to 2005 more than 186,000people in 33 states received diagnoses of HIV or AIDS.

The article I read today was based on paintball and how its gaining popularity and considered a sport by many more now. The competition took place at Qualcomm Stadium with 150 seven person- teams competing. Out of these 150 teams 18 of them were professional and 24 semi-professionals. These teams were all there with the intent of winning the prize which consisted of $25,00 in prize money. The defending champs coming out of San Diego “Team Dynasty” is known world wide and drew crowds during autograph signings. Chuck Hendsch founded the tournament and is vice president at JT Sports says there’s a lot more fans traveling to the events. Anyone can play this sport no matter what the athletic ability or age is.
I have never played this sport but it sounds pretty intense and pretty safe since you have to wear all sorts of safety gear. Anyone can play at this sport so I would just grab a few of my boys and go out there and tear it up and have the chance to win me some cash.
Interesting Fact: there’s no age limit to join the competition.

Today I read about Solar Power & how it is now the best thing to do in a lot of places, even parking structures. It is making a big IMPACT now especially in car dealerships. It does not only AFFECT the energy saving business, but also it is a POSITIVE way to actually start saving energy and diong something good to help this world out. Global warming is also a big part with energy and I think that with solar power it will slow it down, and help it reduce the dangers that it is causing. I think by them doing this, it will MAINTAIN the world as it is and it wont get worse. Alot of businesses already have the CONSENT from their owners and managers to start such a project. It is not only the Solar Panels that cost money during this project, it is mainly the STRUCTURE. Even though it cost to make, it will make a big change in the world.

I think this is a good idea and finally they do something to save energy where it is needed most. Hopefully they can keep doing things like this and the world will be a better place to live in.

The companys commit to buying 15 to 20 years of electricity at a fixed rate.

As you cross the border to Tijuana you can smell in the air that the state is full of pollution. Population in Baja California is increasing by the minute. Builders are constructing many new homes. These homes are for residential areas close to the beaches. But what the contractors of these new homes do not state that the homes are less than a few hundred feet away from Punta Bandera, the states run sewage treatment plan. Causing many of these residential areas and part of the reason for Tj’s funky smell. So although these people may be thinking that they are making a good deal buying these luxury homes, they actually aren’t. The worst thing of all that the water sewerage consists of about 30 million gallons a day. For which only 25 million gallons are treated. And the treatment that these waters receive is chlorine to kill the bacteria. But the rest of the 5 million gallons that are left untreated are run through pipes and later dumped into the ocean. Eww, I think it is really nasty that Tijuana is dirty and dumping water into the oceans where many swim. And what about our beaches like Imperial Beach does that contaminate our waters as well. I guess it is no longer save to swim in the beaches especially because of all that dirty water. It could cause you to get a bad swimmers ear infection with later results of fungus. I think Tijuana should really try to take care of their polluted waters. But I doubt that they really will take care of their situations, being that they are low in money. So I wonder what will happen next…..

Today’s article was on another shooting but this one occurred In Colorado Springs, Colorado. The gunman identified as Matthew Murray was 24 years old, court papers said that his reason for the 2 separate shootings were because he had been kicked out of a missionary school, they also said that he had been sending hate mail for a while. A friend of his also added that in house they were very religious, he came out of a Christian house hold. The first shooting took place at “Youth With a Mission” a church were they would train missionaries in the Denver suburb of Arvada: the other shooting took place at the “New Life Church” in Colorado springs were Murray was killed by a security guard but they also believe that he might of shot himself and died. The shootings were 12 hours and 65 miles apart. The total of casualties was 5 including Murray and 5 wounded. His parents stated that they were baffled for the actions Murray took and don’t understand why he took that approach. “Youth With a Mission” said that the reason for him being kicked out was do to health problems that kept him from meeting their expectations. One law enforcement official said that it seemed ass Murray hated Christians.
Just yesterday I experienced a shooting in my neighborhood no one was killed but it happened way to close to me and it was a first. Actions like this prove to me that no matter were your at danger is always around the corner. These things come to me as a surprise because you don’t know what to expect and when to expect it and you never know who it’ll be.
