“Stem Cell Advance is Called Safe For Embryos”
►What I read in the newspaper was that Scientist in Massachusetts were saying yesterday that they had created several colonies of human embryonic stem cells, but they didn’t hurt the embryos!. This series could supposedly speed development of stem cell-based treatments for a lot of diseases. People in Japan were doing the same thing too, they had made cells very similar to embryonic stem cells from adult skin cells, without involving embryos. But the technique requires the use of gene-altered viruses that contaminate the cell and limit their biomedical potential. In resume the new work its showing that for first time healthy, normal embryonic stem cells can be cultivated directly from embryos without destroying them.
►I agree because they are doing something positive to improve the embryos.
►I agree because they aren’t destroying the embryonic stem cells.
►In the other hand I think its wrong, because what if something goes wrong and some embryos become mutant or something?.
►I think the most interesting fact its that they are experimenting with embryos.

IAAF expected to rule against Pistorius.

The article i read was about a man named Oscar Pistorius who is a runner. The only difference between this man and other runners is that he has prosthetic racing blades. He was not accepted into competing in the Olympics because his racing blades give him an unfair advantage. Pistorius has set world records in the 100, 200, and 400 meters run. His running legs are j-shaped carbon-fiber "Cheetah" extentions to his amputated legs.
Pistorius made the record of running the 400 in 46.90 seconds.

I think it's sad how he cannot compete against really good runners. But at the same time i understand why he cannot compete. The runners will full legs have more weight to carry when Pistorius has less weight in the leg area.

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Heroic explorer with guide first to conquer Mt. Everest. Sir Edmund Hillary, the lanky New Zealand mountaineer and explorer who with Tenzing Norgay, his Sherpa guide, won worldwide acclaim in 1953 by becoming the first to scale the 29,035 foot summit of mount Everest, the worlds tallest peak, died yesterday of a heart attack in Auckland, New Zealand. He was 88 years old. In the annals of great heroic exploit, the conquest of Everest by Hillary and Norgay ranks with the first trek to the south pole by Roald Amundsen in 1911 and the first nonstop trans Atlantic flight by Charles Lindbergh in 1927. by 1953 nearly a century after British surveyors had established that the Himalayan peak on the Nepal Tibet border was the highest point on earth, many considered the mountain all but unconquerable. Numerous Everest expeditions had failed, and dozens of experienced mountaineers, including many Sherpa's, the Nepalese people famed as climbers had been killed, buried in avalanches or lost and frozen in sudden storms that roared over the dizzying escarpments.
- I think that this is a very interesting article. I have great respect for this man because he did something that no one could do. I feel very sorry for him and his family.
- One interesting thing that I learned is that he also was part of team crossing of Antarctica.

♫The article I read about this morning was about a man who was arrested yesterday for suspected of murder. He is being accused of having killed a 14 year old girl. The young girls name was Ahlyja Pinson. The mans name is Antero Cruz, he is 20 years old. Ahlyja was found dead in an abandoned house in Golden Hill. A homeless man was the one who found the girl in the home unconscious. By the time the police got there she was dead. When the police searched his home they didn’t find any weapons.

♫ My Reflection =]
♫ My reflection on the article I read about this morning is frustrating. I can’t imagine how someone could have the guts to kill someone especially a 14 year old innocent girl. Hopefully everything turns out right and they find her killer.

♫ Interesting Fact =]
♫ An interesting fact that I read in this article was that Ahlyja Pinson had been brutally beaten and stabbed then left there to die.

The story I read today was about a guy that helped a woman that ran into his house and said that a guy was in the lady’s house with a knife holding her son and her wife. The man named Clarence Good had grabbed a hammer and ran outside were the guy was already by his house. Then another guy named Ralph Bishop grabbed his pepper spray and sprayed the guy that was holding the knife then he slashed Good in the shoulder then the mom grabbed his son and then the guy ran and Good chased him were they fought then the police came a few minutes later. The guy was pronounced dead by his own stab wound.

Today in the union tribune I read that in new Delhi India they released the first car India has ever seen. Very few people know how to drive a car because all they use are scooters. It is called the Tata nano and is only 2,500 dollars the worlds cheapest car. so far after the car made it to India 34 took it for a spin and all of them crashed it. The police are worried about the drivers, not the cars. sherma enrolled in a week long driving course and dived headlong into the madness of the morning commute in a beat up maruti 800 sherma wasn't going very fast. And said he was very nervous. He has a good reason, for his first real foray on four wheels revealed how many hurdles and hinder the new Indian romance with the road. Amid a cacophony of horns, a sport utility vehicle weaved between cars passing sherma within a razors edge on the right.

The article that I read today spoke about the high school exit exam, where nine out of ten seniors in San Diego County where found to have passed the state required high school exit exam. Indicating that more than 3000 students in class of ‘08 are at risk of not graduating. Aware of the high rates, school districts are deriving to focus on additional attention on students who struggle in the subjects of english and math. Last year, these topics became a requirement by the District to be achieved in order to graduate. About 29000 students statewide from graduating class of ‘07 have yet to pass the exam. More than 55000 high school seniors from the class of 2008 are at risk of not earning diplomas. It sucks to hear that you could have a great chance of not graduating due to not passing a test. I mean I don’t see why they should be passing it, if they are supposed to be studying the issues at school. Maybe they are slacking off since they think, that they’re so close to graduating. I don’t know but if I were them I would really try hard because high school is difficult and managing a lot of work for nothing is useless.

Beijing bans plastic bags widely used by shopper.
In Beijing people are not allowed to have plastic bags and they are returning to the old clothing bags. They are doing this to cut waste and conserve resources. They are really concerned in oil prices and our environment. They said that if they can reduce waste and conserve oil than it is good for everyone. This ban is going to officially take effect on June 1st. This has also urged waste collectors to step up recycling efforts to reduce the amount of bags burned or buried. I think that it is great what they are doing. Imagine if we did that in the united states, we would really be saving a lot. I think that maybe we should try to do something like that this is a very powerful country and maybe other countries will fallow and we will be helping out our Earth.

=New plans on Rnolds mind=
(I think Not)
This morning in the news paper I have read an article. The article was about a ten percent state budget cut. Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke two days ago in a speech. He did this to keep his promise of not to raise taxes when he took office in 2004. But some say that the budget cut not be enough for their problem. But he wants to cut the budget from all k-12 schools. And also other places like hospitals and parks ect. But if he wants to cut from schools that is going against prop 98. Tat is that 40% of the state budget has to go to the k-12 schools. This will be negotiated by other counsels.

=Arnold is a football head.

=I think that Arnold should think twice instead then just taking money from the schools.

=He should also think of other places he is taking the money from like hospitals, parks and other major places.

=The budget approval needs a two thirds vote of the Legislature.

Source;; Union Tribune.

Article;; A Faltering First For Detroit Three.

Summary;; According to an analyst who tracks industry numbers , the Detroit Automakers' share of the U.S. market dropped below 50% in July for the first time in history. The automakers who have yet to report data are small and would not push the three back over 50%. The Detroit automakers' share was as high as 77.4% in 1984. The market share drop came during a month in which all major automakers but Nissan Motor saw sales decline. The fact that foreign nameplates now control more than half the U.S. market mean little to the average consumer. Toyota sold more vehicles than Ford last month. Its truck sales were flat thanks in part to heavy incentives, but its car sales fell 11%. Toyota was still at number 2 with sales records.

Interesting Fact;; The most interesting fact was that July share of car sales in United States dips below 50%.
