Source; Union Tribune
Article; “Electronics Show Goes Into Overdrive”
Summary; This morning’s blog is based on an article I read about the latest gadgets for cars. It was at a car show in Las Vegas where the new and latest gadgets were shown and tested out. One of the popular cars to showcase was the new driverless blue Chevrolet Tahoe. Its roof is topped by antennas and unidentifiable technology. It’s a robotic vehicle is named, “Boss.” The interesting part is that is was created by Carnegie Mellon University students. Another interesting thing is that is can drive about 60 miles driverless automatically omitting traffic. The Boss was put through its paces yesterday across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Reflection; I am looking forward to the futuristic cars. I know that this is only the first step in advancing the technology our cars have.
Interesting Fact; Experts are working on a gadget to show drivers when they are driving too fast or to close to someone.

“Gates (Defense Secretary) Stops By To Chat With Enlisted Ranks”
►Secretary of Defense Robert Gates took off his suit jacket, poured himself a cup of coffee and sat down at a table full of young Marines and sailors yesterday afternoon at Camp Pendleton. “Thank you for coming,” he told 19 wide-eyed servicemen before launching into Pentagon spokesman said was a favorite part of Gates’ job: engaging in unscripted conversations with lower-ranking, enlisted members of the family. “We didn’t brief the Marines on what to say. Secretary Gates wanted to hear what they have to say,” Maj. Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, commander of the 1st Marine Division. He was one of several Generals who waited outside while Gates and the troops talked.
►I agree because important people also needs to socialize with other people.
►I also agree because they also are normal people as us and they want to have a conversation.
►In the other hand I don’t agree because he is a very important person and he can get killed by terrorist of others persons that want him dead.
►I think the most interesting fact its that the Secretary of Defense was out side the pentagon.

The article I read about this morning was about a new technology that is going to be getting placed in automobiles. As for now the new technology that will be placed in the cars from now on has only been placed on one car. The car is a blue Chevrolet Tahoe. The technology does a lot of things to the cars. On the Chevrolet Tahoe it has a roof topped by antennas. It jumps to life and takes a spin around a parking lot the steering wheel turns back and forth to navigate a course marked by orange cones. The brakes slow the car down for when a stop sign is up ahead. This sounds pretty cool.

♫My Reflection =]
The article i read about this morning was rather shocking. I can’t believe that there even trying to put more things in a cars like as for an example new technology. I think this is cool but I bet there that he cars that have this technology thingy is going to be very expensive that who knows who will buy the car.

♫The Fact =]
An interesting fact that I read about in this article is that other companies are displaying steering wheels with imbedded LCD displays that give navigation information while allowing the driver to keep one eye on the road and license plate cameras that display video on the rear view mirror.

- The San Diego Union Tribune
- Top cartels figure’s sentence: 30 years
- The article that I read today was about a top lieutenant in the Arellano Felix drug cartel. The article says that he was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Manuel Arturo Villarreal Heredia pleaded guilty in September to charges of racketeering and conspiracy to invest drug profits. Villarreal also had agreed to forfeit $5 million. However, U.S. District Court Judge Larry Burns said Villarreal was getting off lightly- comparatively. The judge said he was bound by the terms of a plea agreement worked out between federal prosecutors and Villarreal's lawyers in September that capped the sentence at 30 years. Villarreal admitted his role in orchestrating a wave of violence and drug smuggling along the U.S.-Mexico border on behalf of the notorious cartel. He was one of a half dozen top lieutenants in the organization. It was once one Mexico's most ruthless and violent drug gangs.
- I think that this article is very interesting. But if I was him I would have killed myself before I was captured. I would not stand 30 years in prison.
- One interesting thing that I learned that Arellano Felix is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty.

Activists plead for return of peace; sign taken from rock over weekend.

On sunset cliffs in Ocean Beach there is a famous rock where art work is planted into it. Just recently, a 60 pound peace sign was taken from the rock over the weekend. Activists wish that whoever took the sign should put it behind the rock, paper, scissors International Galleria on Newport Avenue.

I think that whoever took it is pretty lame. I don't see the pleasure off of taking something off of a rock. But if no one stole it, i think that some teenagers might have knocked it down and threw it into the ocean.

A California man was hunting out in Livingston, Montana and he was attacked by a bear. The man was out hunting with his companion and they were led to a private hunting ground by a special guide that knew that territory very well. The man’s companion had just hunted down a deer. The man was at least 400 yards away from the victim when he heard another shot go off. The guide also heard the shot but it was not determined if the bear had been shot. When the guide and the victim’s companion reached the victim he lay motionless on the floor. Turns out the bear had slapped him across the face making his eye pop out of his socket. The guide said that the bear had to be a male because if it was a female it had stayed around to do more damage.

The article I read today was about someone who stole the peace sign off of the rock this weekend. This is the second time someone has stole something off that rock. The last time it was the pterodactyl. Everyone who drives past sunset cliffs noticed the sign but they cant now because it is gone. The sign was made out of stained glass and the last one was made out of plastic pipes and nylon. The peace sign did last longer than the pterodactyl. The sign had been there for 18 months. The people who put it up anonymously were called the peace rockers. They all think that someone stole it purposely.
Reflection- I think that it is very sad that someone would actually take something from its spot when it been there so long and its known to be there. I wonder what the people are going to do with it and how hard it was for them to steal it because it weighed 60 pounds. I think the peace rockers come out to be very nice people for showing a way of peace.
Interesting fact- An interesting fact about this article is that the stole piece was 60 pounds in weight.

Today I read a story about a guy that was charged with a murder done in 1986. the guy had said that he had an alibi for the day she was murdered he said that he was with friends on the telephone. He was connected to the lady, she was the mother of his girlfriend and the mom didn’t approve of the relationship. They had found his DNA on a towel and on a wallet that belonged to the mother. The police had to stop the case because the lead detective had died and the witness also died and most of the evidence was destroyed. They had matched the DNA to his but his lawyer challenged it. Police had said that there was no record of him ever on the phone at the time, he had also declined to take a lie detector test.

The article that I read today was about the drug cartel crack down .A top personal in the Arellano cartel was sentenced to thirty years. He was being charged for many counts of participating in murders, torture, and kidnappings. He was also said to “get lucky” because he got of easy comparatively. Manuel Arturo also agreed to forfeit five million dollars. Him and Arellano were caught at the same time in a luxury fishing boat off the coast of Baja California. At one side of the court was his family and friends that came to support him. Both Arellano and Manuel accepted a plea bargain in order to not get the death penalty.

He should of gotten more for all the stuff that he caused.

The both of them should be KS in prison in order to avoid any shot calling from the inside.

I think that this is a huge step towards the war against drugs and will help the authority to crack down on them.

All together both Arellano and Manuel forfeited about 55 million dollars.

There a study being held in Washington. The research is a study in the link between stress or anxiety and the heart. The research has been very extensive. The subjects of study were a group of 735 men that has been under observation since 1986. They were overall all healthy men with no heart problems. Since the study began the men have undergone scrutinizing psychological and physical tests every three years. By the year 2004, 75 of the 735 men had had heart attacks. According to the study these men were the men that had rated 15% higher in their anxiety tests. The men that showed to be more exposed to stress showed more sings that they had heart failures. The test has not proven that anxiety is a cause of heart failure so scientists have not stated that lowering stress and anxiety will lower heart problems.

Union Tribune: Kidnapping Suspect leads authorities to body of hiker in Georgia mountains.
Today I have read about a drifter that had kidnapped a 24 year old women. He lead authorities to her body yesterday in the mountains. After this the judge denied him bail. Authorities were also trying to figure out if the disappearance of two elderly hikers in October were related. Gary Michael Hilton, 61 years old showed investigators the spot where Meredith Emerson’s body lay. Hilton was known in the area they would usually see him around with his dog. Investigators had gotten countless calls since identifying his as the person of interest of the disappearance of Meredith Emerson. Hilton was charged with kidnapping with intent of bodily injury and more charges could be added. They said that Hilton had tried to use Emerson’s credit card. Three tops and a bloodied piece of car seat belt were found in a trashcan outside of the store where he made a phone call. Hilton had tried to was portions of his van. They think that this might be related to the disappearance of Irene and John Bryant. Irene was found dead to a blow to the head. I think that this is a very sad situation. They have not found her husband but they think that he might be dead.
